Social media video results in charges

PENN YAN--An alleged sexual abuse incident caught on video and posted to social media has resulted in the arrest of Robert "Bob" Champlin, owner of Lloyd's Limited Pub in Penn Yan.
The Penn Yan Police Department investigated a video which was taken inside of Lloyd's the night of Dec. 24 and early morning, Dec. 25. The police report the video shows the suspect "inappropriately touching a female victim."
A search warrant was executed by police at the pub Tuesday, Dec. 26. In the search, officers seized surveillance equipment from the establishment and reviewed the footage. They found "the female who released the initial video on social media also became a victim of sexual abuse by Mr. Champlin." The second event occurred around 1 a.m., Monday, Dec. 25.
Police were in contact with Champlin's attorney, who appeared with his client at the police department for booking and arraignment, Thursday, Dec. 28.
Penn Yan police arrested Champlin, 61, of 3 Main St., Penn Yan, for criminal sexual act (first degree, felony), attempted rape (first degree, felony), two counts of sexual abuse (first degree, felony), two counts of forcible touching and one count of unlawfully dealing with a child.
Champlin turned himself in to police and was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court where bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond. The state liquor authority has suspended Lloyd's alcohol license.
