Speedway will race this Thursday

DUNDEE--Dundee will hear the roar of racing this Thursday, May 12 as Outlaw Speedway tries for the fourth time to hold their grand opening for the season. Although the official race schedule plans for shows mid-April through October on Friday nights, the past three weeks have seen rain on Friday causing racing to be cancelled or postponed. The forecast for this Friday again shows a strong possibility of rain, and caused the track to move up racing a day in order to get the season started. As of press time, Tuesday, May 10, the forecast for Thursday showed a 0 percent chance of rain.
"We want to go racing, the racers want to go racing, the fans want to see some racing and Mother Nature has made us think outside the box a little bit here," said Outlaw Speedway first-year owner and promoter Tyler Siri. "We're not afraid to go outside of the norm to accomplish our goals and we have seen other tracks in the area that are doing the same to try and shake this weather spell we've been under. With an 80 percent chance of rain Friday, we just don't want to see four rain outs in a row."
Outlaw Speedway, formerly Black Rock Speedway, was purchased by Siri in the offseason and so far this year has only hosted an early practice session Friday, April 15 due to the weather.
The show Thursday, May 12 is called "Thursday Night Thunder" and will feature Big Block/Small Block Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Crate Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, Four Cylinders and Bandits. Action is slated to start at 7 p.m. Admission is $12 for ages 13 and up, seniors $10, while children 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $30 per person. The pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. while general admission gates will open at 5 p.m.
