Sports Recap: Sectional Games 5/19/15

Lady Mustangs advance to sectional semifinals
PENN YAN-The Penn Yan girls varsity lacrosse team topped Mynderse, 19-4, in the Class C Sectional quarterfinals, Tuesday, May 19.
Penn Yan left Mynderse scoreless, 12-0, at halftime. The second half marked the 200th career goals for two Lady Mustangs: Courtney Lafler and Heather Conklin. Lafler and Conklin both scored four goals each in the game. Brie Yonge also had four goals and Hannah Christiansen two.
Penn Yan is the top seed in Class C. The Lady Mustangs advance to the semifinals at Mynderse, Thursday, May 21. Penn Yan faces Waterloo, seeded number four.

Penn Yan tennis beats Wayland
PENN YAN-Penn Yan's varsity tennis team advanced to the Class B Sectional quarterfinals by beating Wayland-Cohocton, Tuesday, May 19. The final score was 4-1.
Jake Moore beat Owen Palmer 6-4, 6-1, while Jon Lucas topped Andy Gleason, 6-2, 6-1. In doubles, Noah Terpolilli and Garrett Warren beat Collin Coburn and Tyler Bosh, 6-1, 6-2. Matt Lafferty and Keegan Baxter won against Nick Lang and Nick Smalt, 6-0, 6-1.
Penn Yan plays at Livonia in quarterfinals, Wednesday, May 20.

Mustangs fall to Attica
WAYLAND-The Penn Yan varsity baseball team lost to Attica in the class B sectional game, Tuesday, May 19. The final score was 5-3.
Eric Riehl hit a three-run home run in the third inning. Attica had five runs, all unearned.

WAYLAND-The Penn Yan varsity softball team lost to Wayland-Cohocton, Tuesday, May 19, in the first round of Sectionals.

Lakers fall in sectionals

FILLMORE-The Hammondsport varsity baseball team lost to Fillmore, 9-0, in the first round of Class DD Sectional games, Tuesday, May 19.
Jake Peacock was 1-for-3, with a double. Jeff Thompson and Jay Lai were both 1-for-3. On the mound, George Ruddy pitched six innings with five strikeouts.
