Sports Recap: Sectional Games 5/20/15

Penn Yan boys win quarterfinals
PENN YAN-The Mustangs' varsity boys lacrosse team defeated Livonia, 17-4, Wednesday, May 20 in the Class C Section V quarterfinals.
Sean Emerson led with five goals and five assists, while Austin Fingar contributed four goals and three assists. Tate Stewart scored three times. Craig Gerhardt and Ben Covert each added two goals, while Bryce Dinehart scored one. In the net, Gage Ponsetti had eight saves.
Penn Yan will face Wayne in the semifinals, Saturday, May 23.

Mustangs tennis team falls, 5-0
LIVONIA-The Penn Yan varsity tennis team lost to Livonia, the number one seed, in the Class B Sectional quarterfinals, Wednesday, May 20. The final score was 5-0.
In singles, Jack Arnold fell, 6-1, 6-1. Jake Moore lost, 6-3, 6-3, and Jon Lucas was beat, 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, Noah Terpolilli and Garrett Warren lost, 2-6, 7-6(2), (10-8). Matt Lafferty and Keegan Baxter were beat, 6-4, 6-0.
Penn Yan, seeded number eight, ends the season at 4-9.

Scots lose to Bolivar-Richburg
HORNELL--The Dundee varsity baseball team lost to Bolivar-Richburg in the first round of sectional games, Wednesday, May 20.
The final score was 14-2. Bolivar-Richburg was seeded fifth, while Dundee was 12th.

Softball ends season
HENRIETTA-The Dundee varsity softball team fell to Alexander in the opening sectional game, Wednesday, May 20.
Dundee entered the tournament seeded 11th and Alexander was sixth.

Lakers advance to second round
FILLMORE--The Hammondsport varsity softball team beat Fillmore, 11-1, Wednesday, May 20 in the opening round of sectional games. The Lakers were seeded 10th, while Fillmore was seventh.
Hammondsport will play again, Friday, May 22 at Romulus.
