SPORTS RECAP: Watkins boys win state Federation meet, Castellaneta 21st

WAPPINGERS FALLS--The Watkins Glen boys varsity cross country team claimed first at the New York Federation Cross Country Championship, Saturday, Nov. 19.
The Senecas earned 145 points, beating Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake with 154. Warwick Valley was third at 189 points.
Individually, Patrick Hazlitt placed 12th (16:33.5). Gabe Planty followed in 38th place (16:59.2), Shawn Rutledge was 44th (17:08.8), while Aaron Planty was 72nd (17:25.4). Sam Hanley took 74th (17:26.8). Jacob Carocci finished 139th (17:59.4) and Sean Holland was 169th (18:11.7).
Watkins competes next in the Nike Regionals, Saturday, Nov. 26, at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls again.

Castellaneta takes 21st at states
Watkins' Lexi Castellaneta competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Diving Championship, Friday, Nov. 18. She placed 21st, with a score of 309.75.
