SPORTS RECAP: Week of 12/6/17

Hammondsport boys basketball wins one, loses one
WHITESVILLE-The Hammondsport boys varsity basketball team topped Whitesville, 49-35, Friday, Dec. 1.
Hammondsport had 39 rebounds, 13 of which were made by Brayden Whitcomb with 13. Parker Watson led with 15 points. Dillan Conley recorded nine, as did Alex Davis who scored a trio of three-point shots.
The Lakers lost to Romulus 47-44, Wednesday, Nov. 30 at home. Watson had 16 points.
Girls basketball
The Lakers girls varsity basketball team fell to Arkport/Canaseraga, 50-22, Saturday, Dec. 2.
Destiny Hammond scored eight points, with two assists and two steals. McKenzie Boscoe added six points and three rebounds. Rorie Whitcomb earned three points and three rebounds. Megan Allen and Deonna Deal both scored two points. Tea Flynn had one point, two assists and eight rebounds.
Hammondsport lost to Bath-Haverling, 54-22, Wednesday, Nov. 30.
Hammond led with 10 points and two rebounds. Boscoe earned six points and four rebounds. Allen, Flynn, and Paige MacDonald each scored twice. Flynn added five rebounds, while Allen had four and MacDonald two.

Dundee girls basketball team falls to South Seneca
DUNDEE--The Dundee Lady Scots fell to South Seneca, 65-19, Wednesday, Nov. 29.
Mackenzie Strait scored 15 points for Dundee, with six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Vivienne Hoad had two points, while Alyssah Newell and Alexandria Wood both added one.
Bowling
The Dundee boys varsity bowling team tied Bloomfield, 2-2, Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Jared Hartman posted a 575. Hunter Murphy had a 512. Colin Goodman earned a 497, while Connor Muck added 494.
The girls lost, 4-0. Mercedez Roy had a 356. Edele Morgan bowled a 336, followed by Erika Gould with 303. Kayla Andrews added 257.
Boys basketball
The Dundee boys varsity basketball team topped Canisteo-Greenwood in an away game, Thursday, Nov. 30. The final score was 53-28. Individual stats were not provided.

Penn Yan wrestles at Avoca Duals
AVOCA--The Penn Yan varsity wrestling team competed at the Avoca Duals, Saturday, Dec. 2.
The Mustangs were 2-3. Penn Yan beat Alfred Almond, 45-24, and Bath-Haverling, 39-36. The team lost to Addison, 43-21; Geneva, 48-42; and Marcus Whitman, 51-33.
Boys basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team beat Wayland-Cohocton in an away game, Wednesday, Nov. 29. The final score was 50-44.
Desmond Battin led with 16 points. Ben Emerson added nine. With the win, the Mustangs start the season with a 1-0 record.
Bowling
The Penn Yan boys and girls bowling teams beat Waterloo, 4-0, Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Zach Gurba led with a 528 total. Cameron Bassage posted a 492, followed by Zack Blauvelt with a 490. Trevor Harris added a 331.
Kari Ayers led the girls with a 537. Emilie Thomas posted a 450. Emily Augustine bowled a 426. Mckelvie Jensen added 399, while Brandee Ellis had a 357.

Odessa-Montour girls top Union Springs, 63-36
ODESSA--The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team topped Union Springs, 63-36, Thursday, Nov. 30.
Olivia Grover scored 17 points, with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Sara Gardner contributed 14 points, including four three-point shots. Nakiaha Robinson had 13 points, seven assists, and six steals. Alexis Saunders scored 13 points with six rebounds. Kennedey Heichel posted two points, five assists, and six steals.
"A good way to open the season for us, but a long way to go and a lot to improve upon," said Coach Greg Gavich.
Boys basketball
The Indians boys varsity basketball team suffered a loss to Union Springs on the road, Friday, Dec. 1. The final score was 64-51.
Bowling
The Odessa-Montour varsity bowling teams fell to Watkins Glen, Thursday, Nov. 30. The final scores were 4-0.
For the boys, Eric Rumsey posted a 558. Andrew Ink added 464, while Jesse Jordan had a 377. Colton Chapman posted a 338. Jeremiah Lederman earned a 267.
Jackie Vincent led the girls with a 448. Pixie Kinner had a 413. Kacie Wood posted a 367, followed by Ashley Stewart with 351 and Madison Randall with 347.
The Indians boys and girls teams blanked Marathon, 4-0, Wednesday, Nov. 29.
For the boys, Rumsey had a 495. Jordan bowled a 324. Chapman added 314, followed by Austin Hoyt with a 313.
For the girls, Vincent posted a 445. Jana Arias bowled a 381, while Kinner added 379.
Boys swimming
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity swim team lost to Southern Cayuga, 50-44, Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Billy Tague took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.17) and 200 IM (2:12.03). Cameron Adams took first in the 200 freestyle (2:12.03). Jacob Mayette was first in the 50 freestyle (25.94). Alec Betts placed first in the 100 freestyle (57.21).

Watkins Glen bowling teams win
ITHACA--The Watkins Glen boys and girls varsity bowling teams defeated Lansing, 4-0, Friday, Dec. 1.
For the boys, Conlin Wysocki led with a 645. H. Nathaniel Rose posted 598. Wyatt Brower had a 534. Wrett Brower followed with a 525, while Steven Bradley bowled a 516.
Hayley Cornish earned a 482 for the girls. Kendra Cornish added 409. Alyiah Clink-Bentley contributed 389, followed by Nancy Jackson with a 348. Makenzie Kellogg had a 337.
The Senecas boys and girls varsity bowling teams blanked Odessa-Montour, 4-0, Thursday, Nov. 30.
Rose led the boys with 476. Bradley posted a 469, while Wrett Brower followed with 467. Casen Weeden added 453. Wysocki bowled a 448.
For the girls, Nikole VanDyke posted a 483. Hayley Cornish had a 422, followed by Jackson with 411. Clink-Bentley earned 387 and Kellogg posted 330.
Wrestling
The Watkins Glen varsity wrestling team took eighth at the Larry Goodrich Memorial Tournament, Saturday, Dec. 2.
Dalton Cummings (182) won first in his weight class, beating Newark Valley's Joey Woodmansee by decision, 1-0. Kameryn Sheldon (220) and Ethan Voorheis (285) finished second overall.
