SPORTS RECAP: Week of 3-3-21

Dundee Wrestling
The Dundee wrestling team competed against Lyons, Friday, Feb. 26 and won 42-18.
For Dundee, Alex Leonard (132) pinned Lamir Green in 1:40. Jacob Shimer (145) beat Patrick Leonard with a pin in 2:15. Logan Snyder (152) recorded a pin over Boden Bullock in 1:36. Cole Hunt (160) won when his opponent was injured and did not return to action. Tate Hoyt (215) pinned Harry Conway in 1:06. Caden Hill and Kenneth Empson Jr. both received forfeits.

Dundee Boys Basketball
The Dundee boys basketball team recorded four wins last week. They defeated Red Jacket (48-42), Bloomfield (54-40), Romulus (61-49) and Midlakes (71-49).
Individual scoring statistics were available for the Bloomfield and Midlakes games. Against Bloomfield, Logan Salvatore, Peyton Boudinot and Steven Webster each had 14 points. Webster also added 13 rebounds and four blocks. Hunter Crofoot had eight rebounds with two points, while Blake Machuga recorded four points, seven rebounds and three assists.
"The boys are turning things around after starting [the] season a week behind everyone else," said coach Les Miller.
In the win against Midlakes, Machuga led the scoring with 20 points. Salvatore had 16 points, while Webster had 15 and a team-high nine rebounds. Boudinot added seven points.

Dundee Girls Basketball
The Dundee/Bradford girls varsity basketball team added two wins to their 6-0 season last week.
The girls defeated Red Jacket at Bradford, Saturday, Feb. 27, 54-26. Jillian Underhill led with 23 points and five steals. Makenzie Cratsley had eight points with six rebounds and five steals. Kendall Parker recorded seven points, three rebounds and five steals. Kailey Yeoman had five points, two rebounds and three steals.
Dundee/Bradford dominated Romulus, Tuesday, Feb. 23. The final score was 64-15. Cratsley led with 19 points, six rebounds and four steals. Yeoman and Underhill each had 11 points. Yeoman also added eight steals. Kirsta Sleve and Parker each had eight points, with Parker recording five steals in the game.

Dundee Bowling
The Section V boys and girls bowling championships were held last week at ABC Gates Bowl.
The Dundee girls team took third overall in Class D. They had a total score of 4437.

Penn Yan Boys Basketball
The Penn Yan boys basketball team suffered three losses last week.
On Saturday evening, Feb. 27, the boys fell to Marcus Whitman 62-43. Brigham Hansen led the team with 15 points. Dominic Lafferty had nine and Oliver Connelly five.
The Mustangs lost to Mynderse Academy, 59-58, Thursday, Feb. 25. Max Brodmann recorded 16 points in the game. Connelly and Mason Kuver each had eight. Lafferty, Griffin Emerson and Devon Gerhardt all scored seven each.
The boys lost to Palmyra-Macedon, 58-52, Tuesday, Feb. 23. Emerson led with 12 points. Kuver and Brodmann each had 11. Hansen added six.

Penn Yan Girls Basketball
The Penn Yan girls varsity basketball team lost to Midlakes (66-62) and Palmyra-Macedon (40-35) but won against Mynderse (55-43), last week.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, Joddie Decker had 27 points and eight rebounds in the game against Midlakes. Hayley Andersen followed with 21 points and five rebounds. Elle Harrison had eight points and eight rebounds, while Kaley Griffin added six points and three rebounds.
Decker again led the team in the win against Mynderse with 22 points. Andersen had 11 and Sierra Harrison seven. Jammie Decker had a team-high 12 rebounds and six points.
The girls began the week with a 40-35 loss to Pal-Mac, Tuesday, Feb. 23. Joddie Decker chipped in 11 points for Penn Yan. Harrison had seven and Andersen six. Jammie Decker controlled the boards with 10 rebounds.

Penn Yan Bowling
The Section V boys and girls bowling championships were held last week at ABC Gates Bowl.
The Penn Yan boys finished second in Class C with 5746 points. Cameron Bassage had the second high series in the competition with a 1304.
The girls were second in Class D with a total of 4478 points. Anella Tillman recorded the high game with a 233. Andy Kniffin and Tillman took first and second place for the high series top scores with 1150 and 1052, respectively.

Penn Yan Wrestling
The Penn Yan wrestling team lost to Waterloo, Wednesday, Feb. 24. The final score was 39-9. Ayden Mowry (132) had a pin over Jovonie Pagan in 1:04. Mason Petersen won a 4-0 decision over Hunter Conger.

Hammondsport Girls Basketball
The Hammondsport girls basketball team had one loss and one win last week.
The girls fell to Prattsburgh/Avoca 58-24, Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Lady Lakers defeated Addison, Wednesday, Feb. 24, 48-46. Destiny Hammond led with 19 points. Hannah Hoerter had 17 and Rorie Whitcomb six.

Hammondsport Boys Basketball
The Hammondsport boys basketball team recorded their first win of the season last week. They defeated Arkport-Canaseraga, 54-26, Tuesday, Feb. 23. The boys fell to Jasper-Troupsburg, 58-43, Friday, Feb.

Odessa-Montour Girls Basketball
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity basketball team lost to Notre Dame, 53-30, Saturday, Feb. 27. Mackenzie Cannon had 14 points for Odessa. Hannah Nolan had six points and seven rebounds.
The Odessa girls also lost a Thursday game to Notre Dame, 75-31. Nolan led with nine points and Cannon had eight.
The O-M girls captured their first win of the season against Watkins Glen, Tuesday, Feb. 23. The final score was 36-29. Nolan recorded 14 points, while Jessica Carnes and Autumn Garrison each had six.

Odessa-Montour Boys Swimming
The Odessa-Montour boys swimming team took fifth at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship held Saturday, Feb. 20.
The 200 medley relay team took second in 2:07.74 and included Nick DeLong, Brock Sgrecci, Ben Campbell and Alex Walters. Sgrecci was also third in the 100 breaststroke, while DeLong was third in the backstroke.

Watkins Glen Girls Basketball
The Watkins Glen girls basketball team fell to South Seneca, 38-31, Saturday, Feb. 27. Carly Arnold led with 13 points, Jenna Solomon had seven and Amanda Wilbur six.
The Watkins Glen girls fell to Odessa-Montour, Tuesday, Feb. 23. The final score was 36-29. Mattie Yontz had seven points for Watkins.

Watkins Glen Boys Basketball
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team lost to Horseheads, Saturday, Feb. 27. The final score was 55-46. Owen Scholtisek led the scoring with 10 points.
The Watkins Glen boys basketball team topped Candor, 67-45, Tuesday, Feb. 23. Dylan Morse led the team with 13 points. Mitchell Pike had 11.

Watkins Glen Swimming
The Watkins Glen boys swimming team took third at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship held Saturday, Feb. 20.
Liam Smith won the 200 freestyle in 2:01.85. He was also second in the 500 freestyle in 5:35.01.
The Watkins Glen relay teams were third in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle, while the 200 medley relay team was fourth. 26..
