SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4/20/16

Mustangs see three wins; softball beats Wayne
CENTRAL SQUARE--The Mustangs' boys varsity lacrosse team topped Carthage, 14-3, Saturday, April 16.
Sean Emerson led with five goals and one assist. Austin Fingar earned two goals and three assists. Austin Blumbergs, Ben Emerson, and Tate Stewart each had two goals and one assist. Craig Gerhardt added one goal, with an assist, while Conner Fingar also had one assist. Goalie Gage Ponsetti recorded nine saves, while Kyle Welker had one.
Penn Yan recorded a win against Thomas, Thursday, April 14. The final score was 14-6.
Emerson had five points and two assists, while Austin Fingar and Gerhardt both earned three goals and one assist. Stewart added a goal and an assist, while Conner Fingar and Blumbergs both scored once. Ponsetti recorded 11 saves.
The Mustangs topped Palmyra-Macedon, 15-5, Tuesday, April 12.
Stewart recorded four goals and one assist, while Emerson also scored four goals. Austin Fingar and Ben Emerson both had two goals. Gerhardt, Conner Fingar and John Luppino all scored once. Gerhardt also added three assists and Fingar two.
Blumbergs recorded one assist. In the goal, Ponsetti earned 10 saves and Welker one.

Softball
The Penn Yan varsity softball team topped Wayne, 12-11, Thursday, April 14.
The Lady Mustangs lost to Mynderse, Tuesday, April 12. The final score was 14-4.

Track and field
The Penn Yan boys and girls varsity track teams both finished 13th at the Waterloo Invitational, Saturday, April 16.
John Drozda was fourth in the triple jump (37'10.25"), while Shawn Owen finished fifth in the pole vault (10'0"). Kyle Ingerick was 10th in the 200 meter dash (24.72) and 100 meter dash (12.20).
The 4x800 relay team (Drozda, Ben DeMoras, Nick Kinsey, and Sam Voak) took fifth in 9:20.00. The 4x100 relay team (Shawn Owen, Voak, Drozda, and Ingerick) was seventh with 47.57. The 4x400 relay team (Drozda, Dan Falter, Kinsey, and Voak) finished eighth in 3:58.95.
For the girls, Maci Nicholson took sixth in the 3000 meter run (12:39.71) and eighth in the 1500 meter run (5:38.40). Lydia Anderson was ninth in the 400 meter dash (1:08.39). Ali Robeson was 10th in the pole vault (6'3"). Maricruz Morales was 10th in the triple jump (24'5.5").
The 4x400 relay team (Allyssa Johnson, Katie Voak, Robeson, and Anderson) finished sixth in 4:57.06. The 4x100 meter relay team (Anderson, Alexis Condrey, Voak, and Robeson) was ninth with 57.67.

Girls lacrosse
The Lady Mustangs varsity lacrosse team fell to Schroeder, 9-7, Saturday, April 16.
Sydney Bloom had four goals. Hannah Keech added two goals, while Brie Yonge scored once.
Penn Yan topped Gananda in a home game, Wednesday, April 13. The final score was 11-3.
The Lady Mustangs also beat Midlakes, 16-6, Monday, April 11. Penn Yan led 10-1 at halftime.

Baseball
The Mustangs baseball team fell to Greece Odyssey, Saturday, April 16. The final score was 7-4. Jon McKay had a triple.
The Penn Yan baseball team topped Wayne, 6-4, in a home game, Thursday, April 14.
The Mustangs beat Newark, 5-1, Wednesday, April 13. Sophomore Derrick Riviello pitched a complete game. McKay had a double with two RBIs.
The Penn Yan varsity baseball team beat Mynderse, Tuesday, April 12, 22-2. McKay was the winning pitcher for Penn Yan and went 3-for-4 with a double. Noah Hullings added a double in the game.

Tennis
The Penn Yan varsity tennis team beat Newark, Friday, April 15. The final score was 3-2.
In singles, Keegan Baxter beat Dylan Bianchi, 6-3, 6-2. Doubles team Eden Slocum and Jarett Alexander topped Nick Cepulo and Alex Taylor, 6-3, 6-3. Blaise Cox and Paul Pereira defeated Nicholas Stalker and Jonathan Dwyer, 6-2, 6-1.
Jack Arnold lost, 6-1, 6-2, while Garrett Warren was beat, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(7-4).
Penn Yan lost to Marcus Whitman, 3-2, Wednesday, April 13. In singles, Arnold won against Chase Brown, 6-0, 6-1, and Warren topped Nevin Walters, 7-6(7-3), 6-4. Baxter, lost, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
In doubles, Mustangs' Slocum and Alexander lost, 6-3, 6-2. Cox and Pereira were beat, 6-3, 6-4.

Lady Scots fall to Romulus; track takes fourth, fifth
DUNDEE--The Lady Scots varsity softball team lost to Romulus in a home game, Friday, April 15. The final score was 9-0. Dundee faced 14 strikeouts by the Romulus pitcher.
The Dundee varsity softball team suffered a loss to Honeoye, 16-2, Wednesday, April 13.
Madison Hill had a double, while Xavia Miller earned two hits.
The Dundee varsity softball team lost to Bloomfield, Tuesday, April 12. The final score was 20-7. Miller and Caitlyn Cornish were both 2-for-4.
The Lady Scots topped Marcus Whitman, Monday, April 11. The final score was 23-8.
Miller was 3-for-4. Cornish was 2-for-4, with a triple. Megan Sutherland struck out seven.

Baseball
The Dundee varsity baseball team lost an away game to Red Jacket, Friday, April 15. The final score was 13-2.

Track and field
The Dundee boys track and field team placed fourth and the girls fifth, Tuesday, April 12, at Marcus Whitman.
For the boys, Jovhannie Andrades was first in the discus (118'7") and first in the shot put (40'2.25"). Geordan Conyers won the triple jump (40'4.5") and was third in the 100 meter dash (12.34). Michael Shearin placed second in the discus (99'2") and third in the shot put (35'11.25").
Josh Cramer took third in the 110 meter hurdles (20.54) and third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:12.44). Jason Lovejoy finished third in the long jump (16'0.25"), fourth in the 100 meter dash (12.64), fifth in the 200 meter dash (25.84), and fifth in the high jump (5'0"). William Hall was fifth in the triple jump (32'1").
For the girls, Tayler Morrison was third in the long jump (12'8.25") and fifth in the triple jump (28'7.5"). Andi Wood finished fifth in the 100 meter dash (16.14). Paige Easling tied for sixth in the high jump (3'9").
Emily Oughterson was sixth in the long jump (12'1") and seventh in the 100 meter dash (16.24). Jeanette Jayne tied for sixth in the high jump (3'9").

Hammondsport baseball team loses to Arkport
HAMMONDSPORT--The Lakers' varsity baseball team lost to visiting Arkport, Tuesday, April 12. The final score was 15-1.
William Whitney had a double and one RBI.
Pitching, Dylan Storrs and Jordon Thompson both had two strikeouts.
Hammondsport topped Bradford, 8-7, Monday, April 11.
Storrs and Thompson both had doubles. Jackson Cummings and Carter Watson each had two RBIs, while Storrs had one RBI.
Pitcher George Ruddy struck out six.

Softball
The Hammondsport varsity softball team fell to Canaseraga, Saturday, April 16. The final score was 11-6.
Tea Flynn had two RBIs. The Lakers amassed 11 hits.
The Lakers fell to Alfred Almond, 12-5, Thursday, April 14.
Brooke Caforio and Catie Moore both earned two RBIs. Mikayla Pratt struck out five and Emily Davis struck out two.
The softball team beat Canisteo Greenwood, 3-2, Wednesday, April 13.
Pratt, Davis, and Timberly Wilkinson each recorded an RBI.

Golf
The Hammondsport varsity golf team beat Addison, Thursday, April 13.
Parker Watson had a 44, tying for the lowest score. Cameron McConnell recorded a 48, while Matthew Cole had a 59. Alex Davis added 63. Lucas Robords earned 69.
The Lakers lost to Jasper-Troupesburg, Monday, April 11.
Watson led Hammondsport with 49. McConnell recorded 56, followed by Robords with 60 and Davis with 63. Noah Wilkinson added a 66.

Odessa-Montour track teams take first, third
CAMPBELL-The Odessa-Montour boys varsity track and field team won first and the girls third in the Holly Hain Memorial Relays, Saturday, April 16.
The shuttle hurdles relay team (Andy Fudala, Jimmy Randolph, Andy Hartford, and Luke Eberhardt) were first, while the discus and shot put relay teams of Bryce Elliott and Zach Elliott, won first.
For the girls, the 4x100 relay team (Kennedey Heichel, Nadia Simpson, Hannah Bruno, and Meagan Terry) claimed first. The 4x200 relay team (Simpson, Bruno, Terry, and Hunter Daugherty) finished first, as did the shuttle hurdles relay team (Daugherty, Heichel, Amy Fudala, and Britney Visscher). Rosie Peckham and Amy Fudala, the high jump relay team, won first.

Softball
The Indians' varsity softball team registered a loss to Tioga, 17-0. Friday, April 15. Grace Vandracek struck out nine batters.
Odessa's softball team was beaten by Newark Valley, Thursday, April 14. The final score was 14-5. On the pitcher's mound, Vondracek had eight strikeouts. Megan Jenkins added four RBIs.
The Odessa-Montour varsity softball team suffered a loss to Candor, 8-1, Wednesday, April 13.
The Indians topped Newfield, 7-3, Monday, April 11. Jenkins earned one RBI. Vondracek had 11 strikeouts.

Tennis
The Indians' varsity tennis team was beaten by Southern Cayuga, 5-2, Friday, April 15.
In singles, Curtis Harris defeated Emily Kopp, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, Chris Perez and Jordan Robinson won by forfeit.
Losses came from: Billy Tague, 6-3, 6-4; Cameron Adams, 6-4, 6-3; Noah Austin, 6-2, 6-4; and Bronwyn Stermer and Carly Smith, 6-1, 6-0.
The Odessa-Montour varsity tennis team lost to Newark Valley, Wednesday, April 13. The final score was 6-1. The Indians' sole win came from Harris in singles against Megan Diego, 6-1, 6-0.
The other matches were: Billy Tague, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1); Andy Doan, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3); Robinson, 6-0, 6-0; Austin and Adams, 6-1, 6-1; Stermer and Smith, 6-0, 6-1; and Carolyn Arias and Perez, 6-0, 6-0.
The tennis team fell to Lansing, 6-1, Tuesday, April 12. The Indians' win came from Harris who beat Nick Parkes, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Singles players Tague, Doan and Perez each lost 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Austin and Adams lost, 6-0, 6-1; Stermer and Robinson, lost 6-0, 6-0 and Arias and Smith, fell 6-0, 6-0.

Boys golf
Odessa's boys varsity golf team beat Spencer-Van Etten, 258-267, Friday, April 17.
Tyler Clark led with 41. James Terry added a 51. Ryan Taylor and Brandon Ray both recorded a 55. Trey McCarty golfed a 56. With the win, the Indians' record is now 1-3.
Odessa-Montour fell to Newark, 249-250, Thursday, April 14. Clark had a 39 (with birdie on the par-5 third hole). Terry added 45, while Taylor earned 53. McCarty recorded a 55 and Ray had a 58.
The Indians lost to Notre Dame, 209-252, Monday, April 11.
Clark recorded a 38 (with chip-in birdie on the par-3 seventh hole). Terry added 50, while Taylor earned a 51. McCarty golfed a 55. Ray had a 58.

Girls golf
The Odessa-Montour girls varsity golf team competed against Watkins Glen, Corning, and Spencer-Van Etten, Wednesday, April 13. Odessa had the third lowest score with 261.
Gillian Clark shot a 47. Gabby Fazzary had a 56. Catherine Rounds added a 71.

Lacrosse, softball and baseball see losses; golf wins
WATKINS GLEN-The Senecas' varsity lacrosse team suffered a loss to Whitney Point, Thursday, April 14. The final score was 8-4.
Brandon Gould scored three points, while Ian Chedzoy had one and two assists. Chedzoy also led his team with seven ground balls. Goalie Brenen Murphy recorded 12 saves.
The Senecas' lacrosse team lost to Oneonta, 10-9, Wednesday, April 13.
Dylan Platon and Austin Dalrymple scored twice. Individual goals came from Hunter Madigan, Gould, Jake Kelly, Joe Chedzoy, and Ian Chedzoy. Joe Chedzoy, Ian Chedzoy, Avery Watson, and Bradley Eslick each added one assist.

Softball
The Senecas' varsity softball team was blanked by Elmira Notre Dame, 15-0, Friday, April 15.
Bernadette Osborne was 1-for-2, while Brienna Solomon was 1-for-1. The Senecas' record is now 0-4.
The Watkins Glen varsity softball team was beaten by Union Springs, Thursday, April 14. The final score was 17-0. Nateah Cornish was 2-for-3 and Osborne was 1-for-2.

Tennis
The Watkins Glen varsity tennis team was blanked by Elmira Notre Dame, 7-0, Friday, April 15.
Scores in the single losses were: Jordan Shea, 6-1, 6-2; Hannah Morse, 6-2, 6-1; Clint Craven, 6-2, 6-2; and Liam Fitch, 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles, Kendra Larson and Megan Hazlitt lost, 6-0, 6-2. Marie Bucher and Makenna Fraboni were beat, 6-0, 6-0. Jill Cantieni and Elise Allington fell, 6-0, 6-2.

Girls golf
The Watkins girls varsity golf team recorded a 218, Friday, April 15, facing Horseheads (222) and Lansing (299).
Hanley Elliott earned a 47. Gabi Decker had a 55, followed by Courtney Irwin with a 56. Megan Hoy added 60.
The Senecas' girls varsity golf team earned a 213, beating three other teams, Wednesday, April 13.
Decker led with a 51. Elliott and Irwin both earned 52. Megan Hoy had a 58.

Boys golf
The Watkins Glen boys varsity golf team beat Newark Valley, 208-249, Thursday, April 14.
Watkins' Patrick Bannon led with a 39. Ryan Clark and Parker Pangallo each had a 40. Trentin Barber added 42, while Max Schimizzi earned a 47.

Track and field
The Watkins Glen boys varsity track and field team finished fourth at the Holly Hain Memorial Relays, Saturday, April 16, while the girls were sixth.
Shawn Rutledge was first in the steeplechase (10:40.1), while Cameron Connelly (14'7") and Gabe Planty (15'7.25") took first in the long jump relay.
Daniel Paradiso placed second in the steeplechase (11:25.6). Casen Weeden (32'8") and Brandon Pike (31'7.25") finished second in the shot put relay. The 4x800 relay team (Aaron Planty, Gabe Planty, Brandon Pike, and Sean Holland) placed second with 9:05.6. The mid distance relay team (Aaron Planty, Weeden, Gabe Planty, and Holland) and the sprint medley relay team (Aaron Planty, Weeden, Tyler Couch, and Holland) both took second.
For the girls, Jena Slater and Sam Shea took first in the pole vault. The distance medley relay team (Maddie Ross, Brooke Shaffer, Kai Sutterby, and Maggie Bond) were second. The 4x400 relay team (Shaffer, Sutterby, Slater, and Bond) was third.
The boys varsity track and field team beat Waverly, 75-59, Tuesday, April 12, while the girls lost, 114-24.
For the boys, the 4x800 relay team (Patrick Hazlitt, Jacob Carocci, Rutledge, and Gabe Planty) was first with 9:27.5.
Rutledge won the 110 meter hurdles (22.7) and the 400 meter hurdles (1:13.27). Hazlitt finished first in the 800 meter run (2:20.67) and the 3200 meter run (10:13.47). Pike took first in the 1600 meter run (5:19.27), while Connelly was first in the triple jump (28'6.75"). Carocci won the high jump (5'4").
For the girls, Bond claimed first in the 1500 meter run (5:17.90) and the 3000 meter run (11:35.45). Slater took the top spot in the pole vault (6'0").

Seneca Indians fall to Notre Dame
ELMIRA-The Seneca Indians varsity baseball team fell to Elmira Notre Dame, 12-3, Friday, April 15.
Josh Updyke was 1-for-1 at the plate. Michael Doane pitched for four innings, while Joel Kelly relieved for two innings and Chris Foote closed the game.
The Seneca Indians lost to Union Springs, 14-1, Thursday, April 14.
Foote went 2-for-2 at the plate. The teams' run was scored on an RBI by Alex Grady in the fourth inning.
