SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4-25-18

Dundee boys track and field wins at home, girls fifth
DUNDEE--The Dundee boys varsity track and field team was first in a Wayne-Finger Lakes league meet hosted by the Scots, Wednesday, April 18.
The 4x100 meter relay team (Preston Cratsley, Austin Brace, Nic Laursen, and William Hall) placed first with 47.20. The 4x800 meter relay team (Gabe Kirkendall, Billy Bowers, Julian Ortiz, and Matt Wood) finished second in 10:09.38.
William Hall won the 100 meter dash (11.72), long jump (19'11.25"), and triple jump (39'8"). Leif Hoyt took first in the discus (121'2"). Sam Richards placed first in the pole vault (11'), while Julian Ortiz was first in the high jump (5'4").
Josh Cramer took second in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.31). Bowers finished second in the pole vault (10').
The girls finished fifth overall. Lily Hall placed third in the long jump (14'2.75"), fourth in the triple jump (31'8"), fifth in the 100 meter dash (14.37), and fifth in the high jump (4'6").
Haillie Knapp took ninth in the discus (61'2"), while Erika Gould was 11th (61'). Madison Everetts was 12th in the high jump (3'9") and 13th in the 400 meter dash (1:21.70). Elizabeth Medina finished 14th in the long jump (12'3").

Penn Yan baseball shuts out Midlakes; lacrosse falls
PENN YAN--The Penn Yan varsity baseball team blanked Midlakes, 5-0, Saturday, April 21.
Penn Yan scored all of its runs in the first inning.
Peyton Schuck had two hits in the game. Noah Detar registered a double for the Mustangs.
With the win, the Penn Yan's record is 5-2 overall.
Softball
The Penn Yan varsity softball team topped Midlakes, Saturday, April 21. The final score was 8-4.
Boys lacrosse
Penn Yan's boys varsity lacrosse team was beaten by Thomas, 9-3, at a home game, Saturday, April 21.
All three of the Mustangs' goals were scored by Conner Fingar. In the goal, Jeff Kinyoun had 10 saves. With the loss, Penn Yan's record is 4-2.
The Penn Yan lacrosse team topped Westhill, 5-4, Tuesday, April 17.
Austin Blumbergs scored four goals, with Dylan Stape adding one. Fingar had two assists. Kinyoun earned 12 saves in goal.
Girls lacrosse
The Penn Yan girls varsity lacrosse team lost to Seton Catholic Central, Saturday, April 21. The final score was 9-3.
The Lady Mustangs topped Aquinas, 14-12, Monday, April 16.
Hannah Keech led with six goals and one assist. Elissa Callaway posted four goals and one assist, while Sydney Bloom added two goals with six assists. Grace Ledgerwood and Logan Broome each scored once. In goal, Alexandra Cox had nine saves.
Tennis
The Penn Yan varsity tennis team lost to Naples, 3-2, Wednesday, April 18.
The Mustangs' wins were from the singles matches. Lukas Spears defeated Sonny Leta, 6-3, 6-1. Alex Thiesmeyer beat Luke Didion, 6-1, 6-1.

Hammondsport baseball loses
HAMMONDSPORT--The Hammondsport varsity baseball team lost to Addison, 9-7, in extra innings, Wednesday, April 18.
Jackson Cummings was 1-for-5, with a double and a run. Zak Davis went 2-for-4, with a walk and three runs, while Bill Whitney was also 2-for-4, with a double, a walk, and a run. Sam Zyla and Brock Underwood were both 2-for-5.
On the pitcher's mound, Mike Beam went for four and two-third innings, with eight strikeouts. Zyla, who pitched for one and two-third innings had two strikeouts.
Softball
The Hammondsport-Prattsburgh varsity softball team fell to Addison, Wednesday, April 18. The final score was 13-1.
Tennis
The Prattsburgh-Hammondsport varsity tennis team blanked Campbell-Savona-Bradford, 5-0, Wednesday, April 18.
Troy Sanford beat Kaleb Zimar, 6-2, 6-1. Tommy Morris topped Steve Ceasar, 6-3, 6-3. Colin Drain defeated Nicholas Reed, 6-2, 6-0.
Benjamin Fingar and Rhett Presler won against Olivia Ceasar and Holland Fernandes, 6-2, 5-0. Dylan McDermott and Bryce Santacroce beat Autumn Peck and Jacqueline Hess, 6-0, 6-0.

Odessa-Montour softball team tops Spencer, 5-2
ODESSA--The Odessa-Montour varsity softball team defeated Spencer-Van Etten, 5-2, Monday, April 23.
Both teams scored a pair of runs in the first inning. Odessa later scored a run in the second, fourth, and sixth innings for the win.
Of Odessa's six hits, two each came from Grace Vondracek and Isabel Foote. Vondracek had a double and a triple, while Foote had two singles. Lydia Lynch was 1-for-2, with one RBI and a single. Megan Jenkins was also 1-for-2, with a single.
Pitching for Odessa, Vondracek struck out 11.
Track and field
The Odessa-Montour boys varsity track and field team secured wins against Thomas A. Edison and Candor, Wednesday, April 18.
The final scores were 111-30 against Edison and 113.5-27 against Candor. With the wins, the Indians' improve to 4-0.
The girls also moved to a 4-0 record. Odessa beat Candor, 103-32, and Edison, 109-32.
Both Odessa teams will have the opportunity to win the division outright at their next meet.
Tennis
The Odessa-Montour varsity tennis team blanked Union Springs, Wednesday, April 18. The final score was 7-0.
Curtis Harris won by forfeit. Billy Tague defeated Michela Lawrence, 6-2, 6-0. Cameron Adams topped Sierra Clark, 6-0, 6-1, while Deshawn Johnson beat Madison Gannon, 6-4, 6-2.
Doubles team Sara Gardner and Rhys Stermer won against Tom Radley and Alyson Walters, 6-0, 6-2. Jonathon Myers and Jordan Robinson beat Ryan Huber and Victoria Lopez, 7-6, 6-3. Jacy Knapp and Bronwyn Stermer defeated Jenna Clark and Joey NcNally, 6-2, 6-0.

Watkins Glen track team defeats Elmira Notre Dame
WATKINS GLEN--The Watkins Glen varsity track and field teams topped Elmira Notre Dame, Wednesday, April 18.
The boys won, 81-28.
Aaron Planty was first in the 1600 meter run (4:37.6), 3000 meter run (11:20.1), 1600 meter relay, and 3200 meter relay. Casen Weeden took first in the discus (90'5.5"), shotput (35'8.5") and 3200 meter relay. Max Evans placed first in the high jump (5'2"), 800 meter (2:26), and 3200 meter relay. Owen Scholtisek was first in the 100 meter (12.5) and 1600 meter relay. Gabe Planty won in the 1600 meter relay and 3200 meter relay. Alex Schimizzi finished first in the 400 meter hurdles, while Nick Wilson was first in the triple jump 29'11.5".
Watkins girls won, 74-53.
Kelsey Kernan was first in the triple jump (27') and the 400 meter hurdles (1:24.6). Isobel Scheffey won the 200 meters (28.9). Allison Gibson took first in the 100 meters (13.9) and high jump (4'). Haley Dean finished first in the long jump (12'2.5"), while Jena Slater was first in the pole vault (7'). Kai Suddaby placed first in the 1500 meters (6:10.8). Julya Slater was first in the 3000 meters (11:47.3).
Lacrosse
The Watkins Glen varsity lacrosse team lost to Seton Catholic, Friday, April 20. The final score was 18-11.
Jackson Dunham led with four goals and one assist, while Joe Chedzoy also scored four goals. Avery Watson had two goals and two assists. Dalton Cummings posted one goal and one assist. Seamus Mooney assisted once.
Tennis
The Senecas' varsity tennis team beat Southern Cayuga, 5-2, Friday, April 20.
In singles, Nathaniel Wickham won against Oscar Montalvo, 6-3, 6-4. Dylan Morse topped John Groth, 6-1, 6-0. Clint Craven beat Primrose Kirk, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, Hannah Morse and Jill Cantieni defeated Keith Wasleff and Riky Pearson, 6-1, 6-0. Alexandria LaMoreaux and Megan Hazlitt beat Conrad Murphy and Owen Overhiser, 6-2, 6-1.
The Watkins tennis team lost to Elmira Notre Dame, Wednesday, April 18. The final score was 7-0.
In singles, the final scores were: Wickham, 6-1, 6-1; Peter Sandritter, 6-1, 6-4; Dylan Morse, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5; and Craven, 6-2, 6-3.
The scores in doubles were: Hannah Morse and Cantieni, 6-3, 6-3; Makenna Fraboni and Kendra Larson, 6-3, 6-2; and Kathleen Clifford and Tim Clifford, 3-7, 7-5, 11-9.
Softball
The Senecas' varsity softball team was beaten by Union Springs, Wednesday, April 18. The final score was 14-3.
