SPORTS RECAP: Week of 4-28-21

Girls Swimming
The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour girls swimming team won the Section 4 Class C championship, Saturday, April 24. The team led with 437 points, compared to 347 for second-place Lansing and 275 for third-place Waverly.
Winning for Watkins included: Thalia Marquez, 200 yard freestyle, 2:00.85 and 500 yard freestyle, 5:28.93; Faye Mooney, 100 yard freestyle, 56.31 and 100 yard breaststroke, 1:09.74; and Amanda Wilbur, 200 yard IM, 2:18.78.
The 200 yard medley relay team was first in a time of 1:55.50. The group included Alannah Klemann, Mooney, Wilbur and Marquez.
The 400 yard freestyle relay team also won with a 4:02.48. The team included Marquez, Malina Butler, Kendra Fish and Klemann.

Seneca Indians Football
The combined Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour football team lost their final game of the season to Tioga, Friday, April 23. The final score was 36-20.
Owen Scholtisek recorded 11 carries for 84 yards and six receptions for 83 yards including a touchdown. Travon Jones had eight carries for 16 yards with a touchdown and four receptions for 42 yards. Dominick Fazzary contributed six carries for 21 yards and three receptions for 12 yards.
Quarterback Cameron Holland was 13-for-20 passing with 137 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball three times for 33 yards and a touchdown.
The Seneca Indians end the season with a 3-1 record.

Odessa-Montour Girls Soccer
The Odessa-Montour girls soccer team defeated Tioga 6-0, Tuesday, April 20.
Lilly Betts had two goals in the game, as did Hannah Nolan. Autumn Garrison and Tori Brewster each had one.

Penn Yan/Dundee Football
The Penn Yan and Dundee football team narrowly fell to East Rochester/Gananda, Monday, April 19. The final score was 22-20.
Leading the team on the ground was Kenny Empson Jr. with 22 carries for 211 yards.
Through the air, Kyler Lloyd recorded four receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. Damien Snyder had four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Carter Earl was 8-for-19 with 71 yards and a touchdown. Brady Richardson connected on one pass for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Snyder also had five tackles and one interception that was returned for a touchdown on defense. Lloyd contributed three tackles and two sacks, while Richardson added two tackles and an interception.

Penn Yan Volleyball
The Penn Yan volleyball team lost to Palmyra-Macedon but beat Geneva last week.
Against Pal-Mac, Thursday, April 22, the Mustangs lost in four games, 17-25, 25-18, 19-25, 16-25.
The girls beat Geneva 3-0, Tuesday, April 20. The game scores were 25-14, 25-12, 25-17.
Paige Yonts recorded five aces, four kills and three digs. Jammie Decker had five aces, six kills, one block and three digs. Hailey Trank added six aces, one kill, nine assists and three digs.

Hammondsport Volleyball
The Hammondsport volleyball team lost to Campbell-Savona, Friday, April 23. The game scores were 26-24, 19-25, 4-25, 18-25..
