Starkey town board 6/7/10

Meeting: The Starkey town board met for approximately two and one quarter hours on June 7.
Attendance: All members of the board were present. Three members of the public were in the audience.
Action: The board agreed to hire young people through Yates County Workforce Development for summer work if available.
Discussion without action: Supervisor Richard Burcaw told the board the town has received a work extension until the end of 2010 for energy saving projects. The town received $59,000 through the efforts of Sen. George Winner Jr. in 2009. The grant is through the New York Power Authority. Burcaw said the new radiant heat system already installed in the town barn has resulted in significant savings.
• The board also discussed the local sludge law.
• Zoning regulations are nearing the final form. There is continuing discussion of dock widths at the water edge of lake properties.
• Some town residents asked for information about use of Starkey Point.
Upcoming meetings: The next regular board meeting will be July 8 at 7 p.m. in the town hall on Seneca Street in Dundee.
