PENN YAN--State funding of $450,000 has been secured to support a major public sewer district expansion project in the town of Milo, state Sen. Tom O'Mara (R,C,I-Big Flats) recently announced.
The expansion will maintain existing jobs and encourage the expansion of businesses currently located at the Penn Yan Airport, as well as help attract new businesses and benefit other business owners and residents along Old Bath Road, O'Mara said.
Local officials said that the project will preserve between 60 and 70 high-paying jobs at the businesses currently located at the airport. It will also help facilitate the future expansion of the existing businesses, as their current septic system location and parcel size limits on-site growth, they said.
The project will also leverage marketing of readily available airport building lots, officials said. The expanded sewer district will also significantly reduce fees for additional businesses and homeowners to join, officials said.
Businesses currently located at the Penn Yan Airport include Seneca Flight Operations, Penn Yan Aero and Aire Tech Rotorcraft Services.
The benefits to this community are significant, town Supervisor Leslie Church said in a news release.
