State police make arrests for area burglaries

TRI-COUNTY AREA—New York State Police have arrested four men in connection with a series of burglaries that includes Yates, Schuyler and Steuben Counties.
According to Investigator Joseph Kelly, the following were arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree Aug. 14 and 17: Zachary T. Drucker, 24, Geneva; Brian A. Bergmark, 22, Dundee; Andrew J. Griffin, 25, Penn Yan; and Aaron D. Richardson, 21, Dundee.  Kelly said the charges stem from a burglary of the Sonora Service Center at State Route 226 in Savona, Steuben County, on Aug. 14, 2012, in which liquor and cigarettes were stolen.
The state police said the investigation revealed these four individuals also allegedly burglarized the Cream of the Crop Ice Cream Stand in Savona, Jaynes Used Auto Parts on State Route 14A in Reading, a second break-in at the Sonora Service Center, and an attempted burglary to the Lost and Found Tavern in Schuyler County. Authorities said all of these burglaries happened Aug. 14, with the second Sonora break-in on Aug. 16. Kelly added information has been obtained regarding the July 21 burglary of a seasonal residence on Pulver Road in Yates County.
“The total stolen was around $2,000.  Mostly cash, alcohol, tobacco and miscellaneous items.  Additionally there was property damage in about the same amount ($2,000) to the businesses,” said Kelly.
Kelly said Richardson, Griffin, and Bergmark were arrested Aug. 17 and remanded to the Steuben County Jail. Drucker was arrested Aug. 23 for the burglary to Jaynes Auto and remanded to the Schuyler County Jail. He added Richardson was re-arrested the same day for Jaynes Auto and released.
“The investigation is continuing with additional arrests pending further investigation,” said Kelly. The District Attorney Offices will be reviewing the case for further Grand Jury action in the respective counties.
