State will start Tyrone bridge work in September

TYRONE—The New York State Department of Transportation will begin work on the bridge at the State Route 226 and County Route 23 intersection, starting approximately on Sept. 15.
The Tyrone town board was notified at the Tuesday, March 8, monthly meeting.  The tentative finishing date is May of 2012.  Work will include rebuilding the bridge do to its age.
In other business:
• Highway Superintendent Paul Ernhout will be off on medical leave from April 1 until further notice.  All highway related calls or concerns should be directed to the town barn at 607-292-3152, and not to Ernhout at home.  September of this year also marks Ernhout’s 40th Anniversary with the Tyrone Highway Department.
• On Saturday, May 28th, Tyrone will hold it’s semi-annual Clean-Up Day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Recycling Center.   In addition to the items they normally accept (Flint glass, paper, cardboard, plastics, metals, tires, and appliances) they will be taking leaves, branches, wood, and clean boards with no tar paper or asbestos attached.  There will be another Clean-Up Day Sept. 5 with the same criteria.
