Sheriff makes arrest: Continues investigation
CAMPBELL—The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department arrested Cory R. Haight, 35, Meads Creek Road, Campbell, in connection with the disappearance and eventual death of Urbana resident Melissa Sherry, Wednesday, Sept. 12.  Sheriff Joel Ordway said Haight was one of the last people to see Sherry alive. State police make arrests for area burglaries
TRI-COUNTY AREA—New York State Police have arrested four men in connection with a series of burglaries that includes Yates, Schuyler and Steuben Counties.  According to Investigator Joseph Kelly, the following were arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree Aug. 14 and 17: Zachary T. Area woman goes missing, found dead
CAMPBELL—Officers found the body of Melissa A. Sherry, 28, Pleasant Valley Road, Urbana, in Campbell on Friday, Aug. 31, after she had been missing for nearly a week.  According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Sherry “fled into the woods” from Manning Ridge Road, Campbell, and was last seen Saturday, Aug. 25. Dr. Frank Wine Cellars claims Winery of the Year, Governor's Cup
FINGER LAKES—Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars was named the Winery of the Year and won the Governor's Cup in the 2012 New York Wine and Food Classic, Aug. 14.  This is the third time Dr. Frank Wine Cellars has won Winery of the Year, first in 2001, then in 2006. Blood shortage prompts area emergency
FINGER LAKES (Aug. 7, 2012)—Area Red Cross groups are asking for blood donations because the organization is experiencing an emergency shortage.  Carol Oswald, director of the Yates County Red Cross, said the heat is the main reason for the shortage. She explained, “people don’t feel well, so they don’t go.” Oswald said breathing issues is one symptom preventing people from donating. Read More ...
