Students collect cans to tackle hungerDUNDEE-Dundee teacher Julie Dunkelberger's first grade class holds up cans of food they have collected as part of the 'Souper Bowl of Caring,' which took place Jan. 27 through Feb. 2. The 'Souper Bowl of Caring' is a nationwide fundraiser to help reduce hunger in communities. Dundee Central School's pre-K through sixth grade collected 714 cans in total in their eighth year of participating. This is the second year Sophia Henry (pictured at right), a DCS second grader, has gone above and beyond to collect cans for the food drive. Henry also went door-to-door asking for donations of canned food, and her parents donated money to the cause as well. Henry alone collected 239 cans this year for the food drive. |
