Three arrests made from burglary investigation

YATES COUNTY—The Yates County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gerald H. Schultz, 19, Nathaniel W. Hillyard, 18, and Cameron A. Vanderwall, 19, on burglary and possession of stolen property charges Wednesday, Oct. 30. According to the incident report, the arrests occurred at 7 p.m. on Baldwin Road in Penn Yan.
The suspects were arrested following an investigation into a string of recent burglaries in the towns of Milo, Starkey and Benton, along with the villages of Dundee and Penn Yan. Schultz and Hillyard were both arraigned in the village of Dundee court on third-degree burglary charges, with further charges pending grand jury action.
Schultz is currently on parole following his release from prison in June of 2013 where he served a sentence for burglary. He is now committed to the Yates County Jail without bail. Hillyard’s bail is set at $3,000/$6,000.
Vanderwall is alleged to have possessed stolen property taken in one of the burglaries and appeared in Benton court to answer that charge Tuesday, Nov. 5. According to the incident report, the investigation is still ongoing and further arrests are expected to be made in the case.
