Tyrone town board 5/8/12

Meeting:  The Tyrone town board met Tuesday, May 8.
Attendance:  All board members were present.
Action:  The board passed two local laws for 2012, that reinforce current county laws.  The two regulations are for road use and preservation, as well as the right to farm.  The texts for these laws can be reviewed at the Tyrone town clerk’s office, Mondays and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
     • The board unanimously agreed that the town’s contracted assessor, Vicki Flynn, would no longer have an office at the Tyrone town hall, but will now be located at the Schuyler County Office Building in Watkins Glen as of May 24.  She will be there Tuesdays to Fridays.
Discussion without action:  Tyrone will hold the annual cleanup day, Saturday, May 26, at the firehouse/recycling center, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The town will accept plastics, cardboard, most metals, green and white flint glass, appliances, electronics, tires (with a $2 fee), leaves, and branches.  Regular garbage still has a $2 per bag fee.
    • The town’s assessment grievance day will be May 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the town meeting room.
Upcoming meetings:  The next Tyrone town board meeting is Tuesday, June 12, at 7 p.m.
