Veterans Day services set

TRI-COUNTY AREA—Several organizations will be holding Veterans Day ceremonies throughout the tri-county area honoring the services of those who have served in the military Monday, Nov. 11.
In Yates County, Keuka College is holding a ceremony at 4 p.m. at the World War II memorial located near Lightner Library. In case of inclement weather, it will be held in Hegeman Hall 109. College President Jorge L. Díaz-Herrera will deliver remarks along with Chris Leahy, associate professor of history; Sander Diamond, professor of history; and Linda Park, director of Lightner Library. Eric Detar, College chaplain, will offer a prayer of remembrance, and members of the Penn Yan VFW Honor Guard are expected to take part. The Dundee VFW will also be holding a Veterans Day ceremony at 1 p.m at 125 Seneca St.
There will also be a ceremony at the Wayne Village Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m.
In Schuyler County, there will be the annual Veterans Day service at the Schuyler County courthouse at 11 a.m. The speaker during this ceremony is Schuyler County Sheriff William Yessman. There will also be another service at 2:30 p.m. at the Falls Home Assisted Living Center at 111 Schuyler St. in Montour Falls.
Korean War veteran Tony Specchio will also speak on his experiences growing up in Watkins Glen and going off to war Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Schuyler County Historical Society’s Brick Tavern Museum at 108 North Catharine St. in Montour Falls.
