Villages set Halloween trick or treat hours

FINGER LAKES--As Halloween nears, all of the local ghouls, goblins, witches and werewolves are gearing up to go on the yearly hunt for candy.
The villages of Penn Yan and Dundee have announced trick or treat hours to run between the times of 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. The village of Hammondsport will have trick or treat hours from 6 to 7 p.m. while the village of Watkins Glen will also be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Watkins Glen, Montour Falls and Odessa have announced trick or treat hours to run between 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Hallo-Wayne will be held Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the parking lot of New Market Products in the village of Wayne. Lots of free treats, bonfires and an annual hayride through the village for trick or treaters will be featured at this year's celebration.
Residents are requested to turn on their front porch lights to receive children who are out trick or treating and to turn the lights off when it concludes.
Drivers are advised to be cautious while children are out walking village streets, and trick or treaters are reminded to avoid wearing dark clothing in order to be more visible to drivers. Trick or treaters are reminded to put their phones away, keep their heads up and to cross streets only at corners to avoid potential accidents.
Additional Halloween activities are planned at various area locations. The annual Dundee Halloween Parade and Party, sponsored by fire department women's auxiliary, will be held Saturday, Oct. 28. The parade starts at Five Star Bank in the village at 1 p.m. and proceeds to the school gymnasium. Costumes will be judged and prizes awarded by age groups. Candy, cider, donuts and apples will be included in the celebration. The Dundee Trunk or Treat, sponsored by the Dundee Masonic Lodge, is planned for the Save-A-Lot south parking lot from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The Windmill Farm and Craft Market will have a trick or treat event Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Hector Presbyterian Church will hold their annual "Trunk or Treat" event Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. Located at 5511 Route 414, visitors can visit the trunks of the vehicles in the parking lot to collect goodies.
Hammondsport will hold its annual children's Halloween parade at the Village Square, Tuesday, Oct. 31 starting at 7:15 p.m.
Branchport is holding its annual Community Halloween Party at the firehouse, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
The town of Pulteney will have its annual Halloween party for Pulteney children at the Pulteney Fire Department Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 6 p.m., sponsored by the Pulteney firemen's auxiliary. Trick or treat will be Oct. 31 as well, from 6 to 8 p.m.
