Voters approve all area school budgets

    TRI-COUNTY AREA—Voters across the area approved all of the school district budgets for the 2012-13 school year, on Tuesday, May 15.
    Residents of the Penn Yan school district passed the budget, 769-209.  Five candidates were vying for three seats.  Incumbents Ryan Hallings (688 votes), Elizabeth Warren (595), and Loni Terpolilli (592) were all reelected.  David Willson (514) and Michael Chambers (262) were also on the ballot.
    Dundee's budget passed, 200-63.  Voters also elected two board of education members: Matthew Camacho (221) and Jared Webster (218).
    The Hammondsport school budget was approved 208-55.  There was one candidate on the ballot for a board seat: Richard Drain (229).
    The Watkins Glen budget passed, 374-142.  Two board members were also elected: Mike Myers (420) and newcomer Kelly McCarthy (395).
    There was a contested election at Odessa-Montour, with three seats on the ballot and four candidates.  Incumbents Karen Rock (260) and Damita Chamberlain (236) will be joined by newcomer Robert Halpin (307).  Richard Horgan also had 208 votes.  The Odessa budget was approved, 281-118.
