Voters will decide trustees next Tuesday

PENN YAN—The village of Penn Yan will be holding its village elections this Tuesday, March 18. There are five positions available, including the mayor, one two-year trustee term and three four-year trustee terms. Residents can vote at the Penn Yan Village hall located at 111 Elm St. between the times of noon and 9 p.m.
The only contested election has five candidates running for the three four-year trustee seats currently held by David Reeve and William Allison. Bart Winslow’s seat is also on the ballot, as he has decided to not run for reelection. Carolyn Benedict, who was appointed to serve out the remainder of former Trustee Michael Christensen’s seat when he stepped down, is now running for a full four-year term with Reeve, Allison, and challengers Ronald Dailey and Robert Hawley.
Former Mayor Leigh MacKerchar is running unchallenged for the mayor position, while current Mayor Bob Church is running unopposed for the two-year seat vacated by Christensen.
