Waterfront festival set for Saturday

WATKINS GLEN--The 26th Edition of the Watkins Glen Waterfront Festival and Cardboard Boat Regatta will be held this Saturday, June 15 at the Seneca Harbor Park.
In addition to the activities on the lake, there will be vendors set up in the park with food and unique items for sale. The vendors will open at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m., Saturday.
Cardboard boats will be brought in Saturday morning and be on display from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visitors can vote for their favorite boat by buying small stones from Schuyler County S.A.F.E. (Suicide Awareness for Everyone) and placing them in the voting bag of their favorite boat.
The cardboard boat races will get underway at 2 p.m. and will see the vessels compete for various prizes ranging from speed to best build quality.
All boats must be built from recycled corrugated cardboard and can utilize hot glue, duct tape and paint. No cellular fiberglass, plastic wood or flotation materials are allowed in the hull construction. All the boats are propelled by oars or paddles.
The prize winners in the various categories will be announced at the end of the races at 3:45 p.m.
There will then be music by Sim Redmond from 4 to 6 p.m. at the waterfront.
All activities and entertainment are free. For additional information see www.thewaterfrontfestival.com.
