Waterfront festival set for this weekend

WATKINS GLEN—The 21st edition of the Watkins Glen Waterfront Festival and Cardboard Boat Regatta is Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14. Held in Watkins Glen at the Seneca Harbor Park, the waterfront event includes a regatta where competitors paddle self-constructed boats made out of cardboard. Festival events include a variety of musical entertainment along the entire Seneca Harbor waterfront, the food court and the Harbor Light Show.
A special event for Harbor Lights is the Seneca Sail and Power Squadron Flag Raising and Boat Parade. In 2014 the United States Power Squadrons celebrates 100 years of service to the boating community. To recognize this milestone the USPS local club, the Seneca Sail and Power Squadron, is donating a new American flag and lighting system for the large flagpole near the boat launch. Local leaders will join power squadron officials for a special dedication ceremony at the flagpole at 6 p.m., Friday June 13, at the beginning of the waterfront festival and the eve of Flag Day. Following the ceremony at 7 p.m., power squadron members will pilot their boats in a Parade in Review before joining the Lighting of the Harbor.
The schedule of events June 13 is as follows:
