WATKINS GLEN—Watkins Glen cut the remaining varsity football season short, due to too many injuries. Athletic Director Denise Wickham said the decision was made Tuesday, Oct. 12, and announced the next morning. She explained there were seven different injuries this season that took players off the field. She added one player quit and another moved out of the area. The team started with 24 members. Wickham said there just weren't enough players to compete in the last two games of the season. She explained there are always a few injuries each year: broken collarbone or concussion. However, Wickham said she cannot remember a season being canceled due to so many injuries.
