ITHACA—The Watkins Glen boys varsity soccer team claimed the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Large Schools Championship crown, Saturday, Oct. 23. The Senecas beat Trumansburg, 3-0, to take the title at Ithaca High School. Going into the game, Watkins was the south schools winner and Trumansburg was the north schools winner. With the win, Watkins is now 14-1-1. Chris Duane scored first for the Senecas, assisted by Ian Andersen. Austin Stephany was next. Andrew Malaney assisted. After halftime, Andersen himself scored with just under 30 minutes left on the clock. Trumansburg never managed to score. Watkins attempted 10 shots on Trumansburg’s goal and had four corner kicks. In the goal, Andrew Conklin had seven saves. Watkins plays next in a Sectional game, Tuesday, Oct. 26, against Windsor.
