Watkins falls to Spencer, 6-3

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen varsity baseball team lost to Spencer-VanEtten, Monday, May 17.
The final score was 6-3.  Watkins had eight hits, six of which were in the third inning. 
"We managed just two hits after the third," said Coach Jesse Schubmehl, adding the team had five errors.  "Derek Steinruck pitched a pretty good game for us allowing only two hits on eight strikeouts, five walks (all to their lead-off and number two hitter), and only two earned runs."
Andrew Malaney was 1-for-4 and led off the game with a triple. Travis McCormick was 2-for-3, with two runs scored, one RBI, and a stolen base.  Jesse Rappleye was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Paul Bauman was 1-for-1 with a walk and hit by pitch.
