The Watkins Glen fire department was full of members and guests for their annual banquet, Saturday, April 13. Fire Chief Dominick Smith recognized Junior Specchio and Bruce Beardsley (inset photo on the top right) for 65 years of fire department service. Charlie Smith III received the Charles Smith I firefighter award and Stanley Mason was named top responder during the program. Bill Beardsley was given the highest training award. Mayor Mark Swinnerton also installed the fire department officers for 2013-2014. They include: Dominick Smith, chief; Judson Smith, Derek Bacon and Charlie Scaptura as the first, second and third assistant chiefs. Deputy chiefs include Charlie Smith III, Mark Specchio Jr. and Robert DeDominick. The fire company president is Jessica Conklin, vice-president Ed Barron and secretary Kristina Olevnik.
