WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team beat Odessa-Montour, 47-28, Tuesday, Dec. 18. The Senecas led 26-10 at halftime, but the Indians worked to the close the gap to within single digits several times in the fourth quarter. Amanda Pike led Watkins with 16 points. For Odessa, Morgan Stermer and Brittany VanAmburg each had six points. Stermer also had 12 rebounds, while VanAmburg added six steals. Kirsta Rhodes had five points points and Trisha Williams had four points and five steals. "Very proud of our effort tonight. We could have packed it in but we didn't," said Odessa Coach Greg Gavich. "The kids kept battling and got it to single digits in the fourth quarter." With the win, Watkins' record is now 3-2. Odessa is 0-6.
