Watkins girls end sectional bid

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team ended the season in a sectional quarterfinals game to Unadilla Valley, Saturday, Feb. 25. The final score was 44-40. "Unadilla Valley played a great game," said Coach Chris Clark. "We've seen them play a few times. They earned it."

Taylor Chaffee led with 10 points, but was out of the game for most of the evening. She was hurt at the beginning of the second period, but returned in the fourth quarter. Clark said Chaffee was "hurting pretty bad."

Chelsea Lehman also scored seven points, followed by Kayli Westervelt, Madison Gates, and Jessica Stansfield each with six. Haley Tuttle had three points and Angela Keough added two. "The girls were absolutely phenomenal this year," said Clark. He said that his five seniors, the starting players, will all be successful in the future. He added that there are a number of younger players he is looking forward to see more of next year.
