Watkins girls lose to Lansing, 51-35

WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team lost to Lansing, 51-35, Friday, Feb. 19.
The two schools competed in the IAC game at Tompkins Cortland Community College.  Coach Michelle Simiele said the Senecas had a bad start.  She added in the second half of the game, Watkins only scored two less points than Lansing.  However, she said the team had dug too big of a hole at the start of the game.
Taylor Chaffee was Watkins' highest scorer with 14 points.  Marissa Pike was next with 12 points.
The girls basketball team plays next at Owego, Feb. 27, in their first sectionals game.
