WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen girls varsity soccer team lost the last home game of the season, Wednesday, Oct. 13. Waverly won, 3-1. Watkins’ only goal was scored by Rachel St. Julien, assisted by Angela Keough. All of Waverly’s goals were scored by the same player. “I was so pleased that Rachel St. Julien scored tonight. She has worked incredibly hard for the past two seasons and has really flourished into a terrific midfielder. Her possession of the ball and patient distribution really makes our offense click,” said Coach Travis Durfee. Watkins attempted four shots on Waverly’s goal and one corner kick. In the Senecas’ goal, Erika Hoad had 13 saves, and Kayla Bryan had two. This was also senior night for the girls team. “Our girls put on a spirited effort. All four seniors played their best games of the season,” said Durfee. “Chrissy Ector was tenacious. Kayla Bryan was everywhere she needed to be. Brittany Miller was pressuring their defense. And Erika Hoad made some terrific saves tonight. Despite our efforts, Waverly was the better team tonight.” Watkins’ record is 4-11.
