Watkins Glen girls claim sectional championship

BINGHAMTON-The Watkins Glen girls varsity basketball team won the Section IV Class C championship against Moravia, 57-51, Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
Amanda Pike led the Senecas with 29 points, including three three-point shots. Mariah Gonzalez scored 10 points, with 13 rebounds. Katherine Meehan added seven points, while Allison Teed earned five points and four rebounds. Emmie Bond, Hannah Morse, and Madison Myers each recorded two points and Clara Chedzoy had five rebounds.
"My girls played a hard fought game. I'm very proud of how they have been playing," said Coach Alicia Learn. "They are a great group of girls that are determined to keep playing. Now we get back in the gym and we prepare for the next game."
