Watkins Glen, Odessa-Montour hold graduations 

SCHUYLER COUNTY—The Watkins Glen graduating class received their diplomas on Saturday, June 23, while Odessa-Montour held their ceremony on Friday the 22nd.

The Watkins Glen class of 2012 had 99 students.  This year’s valedictorian was Marguerite V. Kellogg and the salutatorian was Margaret L. Myers. Kellogg plans to attend Kent State University, majoring in musical theater and chemical physics. Myers will spend one year as a Rotary Exchange student in Taiwan and then attend Stony Brook University.

When speaking, Kellogg told her class to never stop dreaming, even if those dreams never come true or change.  She added, "take risks, be dreamers."

Odessa’s graduating class had 67 students.  The valedictorian was Matthew Kautz, son of Michael and Gail Kautz of Burdett. He will attend Alfred State and major in mechanical engineering.  The salutatorian was Joseph Thompson, son of Richard and Diane Koi-Thompson of Odessa.  He will attend Columbia University and major in electrical engineering.

Kautz stated "Each and every one of us has changed the school in some way." He added, "Each of us is unique, do not aspire to be someone else, be yourself."
