Watkins Glen performs 'Bye Bye Birdie'

WATKINS GLEN—Watkins Glen high school will present “Bye Bye Birdie” March 26 to 28, at the Watkins Glen High School Auditorium.
“Bye Bye Birdie” will run Friday, March 26, and Saturday, March 27 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 28 for a 2:30 p.m. matinee.  Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for senior citizens and students.
Over 30 students from freshmen to seniors have been rehearsing since January, learning how to sing, dance, and speak 1950s-style. The story focuses on the frenzy that builds in Sweet Apple, Ohio, when a teenage girl, Kim MacAfee, from the small town is selected to receive Conrad Birdie’s “one last kiss” before he goes into the army.
Michelle and Tim Benjamin are directing.  Leads include Eric Mack as Albert, Haleigh Wixson as Rosie, Cameron Fitch as Birdie, Marguerite Kellogg as Mae Peterson, Marshall Secord as Hugo, and Jenna Gimbar, Throsby Wells, Kelsey Johnson and Homer Wixson as the MacAfee Family.
Music Director Sarah Matthews is leading the pit band, including Bernie and Samantha Riley, Dennis Morris and Tom Bloodgood.  Choreography is by Kelsey Johnson, Emily Pazar, Meredith Johnson, Marguerite Kellogg and Taryn Hayes.
