Watkins, Odessa compete at IAC championships

TRUMANSBURG-The Watkins Glen and Odessa-Montour track and field teams traveled to Trumansburg to compete in the first half of the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC) championships, Thursday, May 19.
Watkins Glen's Shawn Rutledge won the 3000 meter steeplechase (9:57.86) setting a new stadium and school record time. Patrick Hazlitt took the top spot in the 1600 meter run (4:27.29), also a stadium record. The 4x800 relay team (Jacob Carocci, Hazlitt, Gabe Planty, Aaron Planty) won with a 8:30.00.
For the Odessa-Montour boys, Bryce Elliott was second in the shot put (44'08.00"), while Zach Elliott took third (41'08.00"). Luke Eberhardt finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:09.29). Andy Fudala was second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.97).
For the girls, Brooke Shaffer was third for Watkins Glen in the 2000 meter steeplechase (8:29.03). Maggie Bond took sixth place in the 1500 meter run (5:06.50). The 3200 meter relay team of Bond, Clara Chedzoy, Shaffer and Kai Sutterby was seventh in 10:45.45.
Odessa's April Dunn was sixth in the 2000 meter steeplechase (8:41.20). Hannah Bruno took ninth in the 400 meter dash (1:04.34). For the 100 meter dash, Nadia Simpson placed fourth (13.29).
