Watkins swimmers beat Odessa, 87-77


WATKINS GLEN—The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team beat Odessa-Montour, 87-77, in the Senecas' pool, Tuesday, Dec. 3.


For Watkins, the 200 medley relay team (Matt Doppel, Mitch Mangus, Liam Fitch, and Zach Butler) was first with 2:02.23. The 200 free relay team (Doppel, Ryan DeBolt, Aidan DeBolt, and Brandon Pike) was also first with 1:45.63.


Mangus took first in the 200 IM (2:32.22), while Jacob Slater won the diving competition. Doppel was the top swimmer in the 100 fly (59.43). Doppel also took the 100 backstroke (1:03.80). Pat Hazlitt was first in the 500 free (6:16.86).


For Odessa, the 400 free relay team (Chris Husted, Billy Tague, Alec Betts, and Tyler Goossen) won first with 4:12.99. Other top wins included Goossen in the 50 free (25.44) and 100 free (58.59). Husted was first in the 200 free (1:56.89). Anthony Humphries claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:16.07).
