Watkins swimmers earn third, Odessa fourth

WAVERLY-The Watkins Glen boys varsity swim team took third in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference Championship, Saturday, Feb. 7, while Odessa-Montour finished fourth. Lansing finished first overall.
Matt Doppel won first in the 100 free (49.32) and first in the 100 backstroke (55.70).
The Watkins 200 yard medley relay team (Doppel, Lucas Wickham, Liam Fitch, and Aidan DeBolt) finished second (1:46.69). The 400 free relay team (DeBolt, Fitch, Wickham, and Doppel) took third with 3:37.97.
DeBolt took second in the 50 free (23.92) and third in the 200 free (1:57.30). Wickham placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.27) and sixth in the 50 free (25.09).
Fitch finished fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.36) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:25.52). Will Fitzsimmons placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:07.73) and 10th in the 100 free (1:00.68).
For Odessa-Montour, the 200 free relay team (Alec Betts, James Terry, Charles Sidle, and Billy Tague) were third with a season best of 1:40.11. The 200 medley relay team (Tony Humphries, Andy Fudala, Manley Gavich, and Terry) finished fourth in 2:01.39. The 400 free relay team (Betts, Humphries, Sidle, and Tague) also placed fourth with a season best of 3:44.43.
Tague was third in the 100 free (54.39, a personal record) and fifth in the 200 free (2:02.15). Sidle placed fourth in the 50 free (24.29, a personal record) and sixth in the 100 fly (1:10.23, a personal record). Betts finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:21.70, a personal record) and fifth in the 500 free (5:43.12, a personal record).
Humphries was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.50, a personal record) and sixth in the 200 IM (2:22.91, a personal record). Fudala took sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.03, a personal record) and 10th in the 50 free (26.38).
