Watkins will perform 'Mame' this weekend
WATKINS GLEN—Watkins Glen high school will present “Mame”—a show about living life to the fullest and thriving in the moment—this Friday through Sunday.
In all, 30 students from freshmen to seniors have been rehearsing since January, immersing themselves in the 1920s and 1930s with music, choreography, and costumes. Larger-than-life Mame takes on guardianship of her 10-year-old nephew, then takes him and everyone in her path on a wild ride of a life free of limits and conformity.
The cast features Marguerite Kellogg as the indomitable Mame and Jenna Gimbar as her stage-and-screen star confidante, Vera Charles. Dakota Cole and Brenton Whiting, play the younger and older Patrick, respectively. Elena Likoudis is the faithful nanny, Agnes Gooch. Featured performers include Chris Flood, Braedon Fitch, Stephanie Rhoads, Sarah LaMascus, Josh Hamelin, Rachel St. Julien, Kelsie Hamelin, Tom Richtmyer, Chelsea Kennard, Haley DeNardo, Alex Rundle, Alex Coxson, and Morgan Atwood. The cast rounds out with Mackenzie Congdon, Caitlin Connelly, Brooke Grinolds, Elise Groll, Gabby LaRosa, Chelsea Maceda, Maggie Myers, Yui Nagano, Alexis Naylor, Natasha Patel, Sarah Wickham, and Abbey Willis.
Michelle and Tim Benjamin of Montour Falls are directing. Choreography is by students Kellogg, Groll, LaMascus and guest choreographer, Mikaela Hinterberger. “Mame” will run March 23 and March 24 at 8 p.m., and March 25 for a 2:30 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for senior citizens and students.
