Wayne town board 1/11/11

Meeting:  The Wayne town board met Tuesday, Jan. 11, for around two hours.
Attendance:  All board members were present.  There were five members of the public in the audience.
Discussion without action:  Supervisor Steve Butchko said the board agreed the town’s land use regulations (LUR) need to be similar to the Wayne comprehensive plan.  This will be a goal for 2011.  The plan was approved at the start of 2010.  Butchko explained the current LUR is about 25 years old.  He said the comprehensive plan reflects the changes in property usage since the LUR; land is developed for lakefront cottages, farms, and properties with a view of the lake.  Butchko added the Lane Use Leadership Alliance will hold another program, Monday, March 28.
• Butchko said another project the board might consider is the water and/or septic system for Sylvan Beach.  He explained there might be other ways to fund it so it is not as expensive or ways to implement it easier.  Wayne residents voted down the plan Nov. 3, 2009.
• The town board heard a report on dangerous and unsafe homes.  Butchko said Wayne has around 28 properties that were deemed “dangerous and unsafe.”  He explained the country started to tear down one such property last week.  However, he added that about half of the properties have cleaned up and complied with regulations.
• Discussion continued on acquisition of the Wayne hydro-plant.
Upcoming meetings:  The next regular town board meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 8, at  7 p.m.
