Weekend events include fair, festival

SCHUYLER COUNTY--Two popular events will be held this weekend in Schuyler County, the Hector Fair and the Finger Lakes Cheese Festival.
The Hector Fair will run from Thursday through Saturday, July 25-27.
There will be a number of events each day including the popular parade on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
The gates will open at 5 p.m., Thursday, and the evening includes half price ride tickets. The rides will be available at 6 p.m. and the beer garden and Bingo also get underway at that time. DJ Miller Time will play from 7 to 10 p.m.
The gates again open at 5 p.m. Friday with rides starting at 6 p.m. The parade will be at 7 p.m. Bingo will begin at 8 p.m. and Delta Mike Shaw Band will play from 8 to 11 p.m.
Gates open at 12 p.m. Saturday and will include a chicken barbecue and car show. Rides and concessions open at 1 p.m. There will be a firefighter demonstration at 5 p.m. with rides and Bingo starting at 6 p.m. Nick Kody and The Creek Road Band will play from 8 to 11 p.m. and fireworks will be shot off at 10 p.m.
All events will be held at the fireman's field, behind and next to the Valois Logan Hector Volunteer Fire Company.
The 2019 Finger Lakes Cheese Festival will be Saturday, July 27 at the Sunset View Creamery in Odessa.
The annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and promotes itself as a fun, family day.
Vendors will offer homemade jams, jellies, syrups, baked goods, local fruits and vegetables along with handcrafted wood pieces.
Wine, beer and cider tastings will also be available. Live music will also be featured. The farm friendly theme follows through with self-guided tours, hay rides and games for the kids.
Dogs (on a leash) are welcome. This is a rain or shine event with no refunds.
The creamery is located at 1618 County Road 15 in Odessa.
