Yates is ready for a week at the county fair

    YATES COUNTY—The Yates County Fairgrounds will be busy with award winning farm animals, concerts, carnival rides, and tractor pulls this week.
    The annual Yates County Fair is being held this week until Saturday, July 16. The fair is put on each year independently by the Yates County Agricultural Association. Yates County has one of the few remaining owner-operated fairs left in New York state with more than 8,000 people attending the fair each year.
    The fairgrounds open at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and last until 11 p.m. In addition to rides, Wednesday there is an ATV Rodeo at 6 p.m. At 9 p.m. there will be a volleyball tournament.  Thursday’s highlight is the Redneck Truck Pulls at 7 p.m. by the Western New York Profarm Pullers.
    The fair opens at 1 p.m. Friday. Rides will be open until 11 p.m., with a special price from 1 to 4 p.m. A tractor pull is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday also opens at 1 p.m. There is a demolition derby at the grandstands starting at 6 p.m. The Workin Klass Outlaws will also give a free concert afterwards at 7:30 p.m.
    Other daily activities include the 4-H Exhibit Hall, where award winning crafts and vegetables will be on display. Rosaire’s Royal Racing Pics and the No Joes Clown Circus will also offer free daily acts.
