Elizabeth Russell-Orr, Workforce Development program supervisor, explained they have seen more people coming to the agency for help getting a job. Workforce Development offers training and courses for unemployed workers: ranging from resuming writing, job fairs, skills assessment, and apprenticeship programs. She explained they just ended a week-long workshop specialized for people with a solid work history who are still having trouble finding a job. Russell-Orr said she has seen more workers with this background coming for help.
“The longer you’re unemployed, the more difficult it is to get back into the workforce,” Russell-Orr said.
She suggested that even if it is not the dream job, people should get what work they can. She explained they can still look for a better job, but at least then they are also employed.
