Youth actors perform 'Alice in Wonderland Jr.'

PENN YAN—The Pennsylvania Yankee Theater Company’s Youth Theater Experience will perform “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.” this Thursday to Saturday.
The musical takes songs from the 1951 Disney cartoon “Alice in Wonderland,” and tells the story of Alice falling down the rabbit hole. Alice (played by Riley Dallos) encounters many strange creatures, originally told in Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass.”
Alice is out with her sister Mathilda (Ashley Owens) one day, when she sees a startling sight: a talking white rabbit (Alycia Moravec). Being curious, she follows the creature down a rabbit hole.
In the confusing world of Wonderland, Alice grows in size (then played by Bailey Findley) and even shrinks (Rachael Garvey) small enough to talk with the flowers. The little girl crosses paths with the Cheshire Cat (Colin Cummings, Ashley Owens and Connor Calder) and the Queen of Hearts (Maddy Martini). Alice meets other familiar faces when she attends an unusual tea party with the Mad Hatter (Keegan Baxter), the March Hare (Ben Oswald) and the sleepy Dormouse (Brevin Cummings).
The cast, which is made up of singing flowers, playing cards, and an assortment of animals, performs various songs. There are 45 children, age 4 through 14, in the musical.
Tickets are $5 at the door. All performances, Aug. 4 to 6, are at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in the Penn Yan Academy auditorium.
