Penn Yan loses to Cazenovia, 8-6, in state semifinal game

CICERO –The Penn Yan boys varsity lacrosse team lost to Cazenovia in the state semifinal game, Wednesday, June 4 at Cicero-North Syracuse high school. The final score was 8-6.
Cazenovia is number one in the state and also defending a state title from last year. The Lakers move to 22-0 with the win and they will face Bronxville in the championship on Saturday.
The Penn Yan Mustangs, number two in the state, put up a tough fight against Cazenovia. They ended the first quarter ahead 2-1 and remained tied 4-4 at the half. The Mustangs would again tie with  Cazenovia in the third quarter, 5-5, before it ended 6-5 with Cazenovia ahead. The Lakers ended the final quarter with two more points while Penn Yan only scored once, ending the game at 8-6.
For the Mustangs, Andrew Perl led with three goals. Bradley Voigt, Rion Davison and Austin Fingar each added one. Goalie Brandon Maciejewski made 11 saves.
Penn Yan ends the season with a 16-4 record.
