Villages set Halloween trick or treat hours
FINGER LAKES--As the Halloween holiday nears, area villages are preparing for goblins, ghosts and ghouls who will be on the hunt for candy Oct. 31. The villages of Penn Yan and Dundee have announced trick or treat hours to run between the times of 6 and 8 p.m.Monday, Oct. 31. The village of Hammondsport will have trick or treat hours from 6 to 7 p.m., while the village of Watkins Glen will be 6 to 8 p.m. Residents are requested to turn on their front porch lights to receive children who are out trick or treating and to turn the lights off when it concludes. Drivers are advised to be cautious while children are out walking village streets, and trick or treaters are reminded to avoid wearing dark clothing in order to be more visible to drivers. The annual Dundee Halloween Parade and Party will be held Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade starts at Five Star Bank at 1 p.m. and will proceed to the school gymnasium. Costumes will be judged and prizes awarded by age groups. Candy, cider, donuts and apples will be given out at the party. The Windmill Farm and Craft market will also be open Oct. 29 for trick or treating from 3 to 4 p.m. On Halloween, the Save-A-Lot parking lot will once again host its Trunk-or-Treat event from 6 to 8 p.m. In the town of Wayne, there will be a "Hallo Wayne" gathering Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be held in the New Market Products parking lot and feature a costume contest for children up to 18 years. There will be treats, fire rings and a hay ride for attendees. The villages of Watkins Glen, Montour Falls and Odessa have officially announced trick or treat hours to run between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. The First Presbyterian Church of Hector will hold a Halloween Trunk or Treat event Sunday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. Located at 5511 Route 414, visitors can visit the trunks of the vehicles in the parking lot to collect goodies. The event will also feature hot dogs, games, snacks and crafts inside the hall.
