Wine makers urge Cuomo to reject plan

ALBANY--Wine makers from the Finger Lakes region are urging Gov. Andrew Cuomo to reject a proposed propane storage facility on the shores of Seneca Lake.
The group spoke out against the project during a gathering with other opponents at the New York state capitol in Albany this past week.
Winery co-owner Vinny Aliperti says the project threatens the local environment and the Finger Lakes tourism and wine making industries.
Houston-based Crestwood Midstream Partners had defended its project, which it says will improve the propane supply in the northeast. The company downsized the proposal earlier this year in response to concern from local residents.
The proposal is now before an administrative law judge. Cuomo's environmental commissioner has the authority to block the project.
