Dundee man indicted from teen's death
DUNDEE--After a presentation by District Attorney Valerie Gardner Jan. 19, a Yates County grand jury handed down an indictment including five new counts against Charles R. Taylor, 25, of Dundee. Taylor, who is also facing charges of tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony, based upon an indictment handed down Sept. 1, has now been indicted on additional charges. All charges stem from an incident Nov. 8, 2015 involving the fatal heroin overdose of a 17-year-old Dundee- area female. The Jan. 19 indictment against Taylor includes one count of second-degree manslaughter, a class C felony which carries a maximum sentence of five to 15 years in state prison. The indictment also includes one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree (class B felony), one count of criminal injection of a narcotic drug (class E felony), and two counts of making a punishable false written statement (class A misdemeanors). Gardner said Taylor's arraignment on the new charges was set for Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 9:30 a.m. in Yates County court.
