Company proposes 17 wind turbinesPENN YAN—Representatives of Ecogen WindGriffin told the representatives they are looking for the town’s lead and if the town of Italy is agreeable to the turbines, then the development organization will extend benefits. Candidate for the post of supervisor of the town of Italy, Brad Jones, told the board that Italy residents are still against the project. Ecogen representatives were asked to return with the total projected savings related to megawatt figures. In other business: Awarded the bid for the proposed incubator building at Horizon Business Park to Himrod-based Finger Lakes Design in the amount $8,000. Empire Zone coordinator Ryan Hallings reported a grant application has been submitted to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Places for improvements at Millard Park in Dundee. Griffin said the second round of downtown Penn Yan surveys has been completed and of the 575 distributed, 287 were returned. Included in the survey were questions about businesses that are needed. Nearly 600 surveys have been completed and when results are assembled the development center will put together a plan to attract new businesses to the area. |
