Grand jury indicts Champlin
PENN YAN--A Yates County grand jury indicted Bob Champlin, formerly the owner of Lloyd's Limited in Penn Yan, June 7 on felony charges of first-degree criminal sex act, first-degree attempted rape and first-degree sexual abuse. Champlin has also been charged with misdemeanor offenses. The felony charge is a class B felony. Todd Casella, Yates County district attorney, said, "The sentence can be between five-25 years." Casella said a trial date could be set this year but it may not be until January. Champlin rejected an offer to plead guilty to two counts of sexual abuse.
